Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home was started on 24.5.1998 by Hon'ble Justice Shri Rathnavel Pandian, Former Supreme Court Judge, Chairman, Fifth Planning Commission of India, at Banquet Hall, Hotel Karpagam, Mylapore, Chennai.

Smt. Sarojini Varadhappan, Socialist, Shri, V.G. Santhosham, Industrialist, Shri. K. S. Raghuram, Cine Dance Director, given their felicitations. Tmt. Girija Raghuram, lighted the Kuthuvilakku.

Profile

Joint Family System is disintegrating in our Society nowadays, thereby leaving the senior citizens out of the fold. It is where PRASANTHI OLD AGE WELFARE HOME steps into giving solace to the senior citizens in their day to day life, without any restriction of caste, creed and sex.

The Physical and mental needs will be looked after, sumptuous food will be provided for maintaining the physical condition while the spiritual needs for the peaceful and mental condition will also be fulfilled.

The above homes are running in a rented premises with an amicable atmosphere and good environment.

Salient Features

Female and Male Care taker are there to attend the needs of the Old Age persons.
Strictly vegetarian food are served daily for these Old Age people. On special occasions, special lunch will be provided to them, by serving, Vadai, Payasam, appalam and banana.
For Recreations for them, a common Television, daily Newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines are provided to them.
Every 10 days, there is a Medical check-up for them by a Physician.
Once in 2 months, Blood sugar, fasting, PP and ECG investigations done for them at free of cost.
During 2nd Saturday & 4th Saturday, Sai Bhajans are conducted.
The speciality of Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home is taking care of Bed-ridden senior citizens with good nursing care.

Personnel to attend the inmates in respect of food and living are made available. As far as the senior citizens, it will be a home away from their homes. Peaceful and quite life therein will have a significant effect on the physical and mental conditions of the inmates.

Prasanthi Oldage Welfare Home was started with the objective of serving the oldaged people of the society in year 1998, in the past 13 years the home has served about 250 old age people of the society by providing them food, accomodation and shelter at free of cost.

Founder And Board Of Trustees

Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home was founded by Shri RAJAGOPALA BALAJI, a B.Com. Graduate.He is a ardent devotee of Bhagwan Shirdi Sai Baba and Bhagwan Shri Satya Sai Baba. He has dedicated his life to the upkeep and well being of the old aged people of the society. He is in social service from 18 years old and still remains a bachelor. His only ambition is to purchase a land around Chennai to build a pucca building with all necesary facilities needed for housing atleast 100 senior citizens and to provide them with food, shelter and accomodation along with medical attention at free of cost.

Other eminent personalities in the Board include:

Mrs. J. Gayathri, a B.Com. Graduate, who is taking care of the day to day affairs in running the old age home. She takes care of the administrative, managerial activities of the Trust and she used to visit all the 3 homes daily and look after the needs of the Old Aged persons.

Dr. Sunitha Jagadish, M.D., D.G.O. [Ob Gyn] [USA], a successful Obsetrician Gynaceologist, who gives her valuable suggestions, medical advices at all times.
